Ask an Improviser

"What is the most important improv lesson you ever learned?"

Performer Sarah Poirier
Magnet Theater
"React! Feel something, feel anything. Then let the rest follow. I’ve found the easiest way to know “what to say next” is to follow my emotion. Did that shock my character? Make them angry or confused? Great, go with that! I never try to think of what to say next I just try to think “how did that make me feel?” Then the words just follow. Sometimes they don’t follow - but that’s okay too because then your face does the work of saying IT ALL."
