Ask an Improviser

"What is the most important improv lesson you ever learned?"
Performer Paul Ton
Magnet Theater
"In general, nothing beats reps. You're green for a long time. Long like years. Maybe you're not happy with your play. Your taste exceeds your talent for a long time. Be kind to yourself. Give yourself grace. Be kind to your classmates and teammates. Just keep getting out there. Take up space. Try something new. Get into trouble. Also live your life! Over time your hit-rate will creep up. In baseball even the best hitters ever barely reach .400. That's four hits out of ten at-bats. Four out of ten is phenomenal!"

Check out Paul on stage at the Magnet on Wednesdays at Megawatt with his ensemble Macbeth!
