"What you say is far less important than how you say it. There is no "Correct" way to play a character: what's interesting is the performer's personal connection to it. If the suggestion is "doctor," it's nice to remember that somewhere out there is the most average doctor alive and somewhere out there is the most unusual doctor alive, and they are both called "doctor."
