Boundary-breaking work starts with the idea. ‘Hadestown’ was born as a Vermont-based indie-folk song cycle, recorded as a concept album, and then transformed for the stage; ‘Fleabag’ was a character developed for a short-play night at a local dive bar, long before it landed at Edinburgh Fringe.
