Bio

(Performer)

Long before she even owned a cell phone, Kate Emswiler started doing improv, back in 2002 at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. She completed the UCB training program and was placed on the team Instant Cinema in 2004, performing the movie form. She also performed in numerous sketch shows at the UCB, including "Soundtracks Live Presents: Pretty in Pink", directed by Amy Poehler. In 2005 she moved to San Francisco, completed the Summer Training Congress at the American Conservatory Theatre, and performed in several comedic plays. Moving back to NYC in 2010, mostly for pizza-related reasons, Kate resumed improv and sketch classes at UCB, the PIT and the Magnet.

Currently she is one half of the duo Kelly & Kate with Kelly Buttermore; together they wrote and performed the sketch shows "Dearly Beloved and Everyone Else" and "Vacation Town".

She has also been a part of the Magnet sketch program since 2012, as a writer and performer on the teams Risky Bottom, Jacktown, CA$H and now Wendigo.
