Joseph Hendel is a theater director, musician, and performer living in Brooklyn. After graduating with a B.A. in Music from Yale in 2007, he moved to NYC to pursue a career in the wondrous field of the performing arts. His recent theater directing credits include Moliere's The Learned Ladies at the Kraine Theater (with a cast of improvisers), David Ives' All in the Timing at the Knitting Factory, and a double bill of Ionesco and Pirandello one-acts at the Shell Theater in Times Square. He plays trombone and keyboards in the rock band Gods and Monsters, led by Jeff Buckley/Captain Beefheart guitarist Gary Lucas. As an improvisor he has studied with Mark Grenier, Russ Armstrong, Armando Diaz, and Ali Farahnakian, among others; musical improv with Tara Copeland (and Frank Spitznagel on the keys); and clown with Chris Bayes. He was a member of indie team Bondo and Magnet Musical Megawatt team Tambourine. Now he is a proud member of Magnet Musical Megawatt team Aquarius.
