Bio
(Performer)Anson Chan is an improviser who currently performs at The Magnet Theater on Thursday nights with his Musical Megawatt team, Corner Store. You may also catch him performing around New York with his other improv teams Hard Maybe, Thorn and Petal Stick (Shakespearean Improv), Improvised Dungeons and Dragons, and Jane Austen Book Club. He is a producer of the Asian improv show at the Magnet, Shoes Off, and many other diversity focused improv and storytelling shows around New York City. Anson also teaches improv to adults with disabilities at Job Path and is the founder and instructor of the Improv Dojo. Anson is a student of The Magnet Theater and has taken classes at Improvolution (NYC), Unexpected Productions Improv (Seattle), and Jet City Improv (Seattle). He enjoys playing characters ranging from big and silly to emotionally grounded all while following the fun. Fun Fact: as a kid, Anson learned monkey style Kung Fu at the Shao Lin Temple because he thought it looked super funny. What he didn't realize at the time was that “funny Kung Fu” and “practical applications” have an inverse relationship..
