Level Four: Senior Project -Club Sandwich with Jamie Rivera

Class Description

Level Four dives deep into an advanced form (e.g. Evente, MonoScene, Deconstruction, Sleepover, Harold+, The Movie, Choose Your Own Adventure) and works on that form with the singular focus need to create a great show.In The Club Sandwich we begin with a strong, relationship based scene, which then inspires a deconstruction of themes, games and ideas, and then returns to the original scene throughout the piece. It's partly character driven, partly abstract thought, all fun.The eight class sessions are followed by a three week run of shows, giving students an enhanced opportunity to learn by doing, over time, in front of a real audience. Prerequisite: Magnet Level Three

Instructor: Jamie Rivera

Jamie Rivera is a Brooklyn based performer and instructor at Magnet Theater where he currently performs in The Armando Diaz Experience. Past Magnet credits include The Nominated (which he created and directed), Jordache & Friends, The Movie, and long running ensemble, Junior Varsity. Outside Magnet you may have seen or heard him in The Second City BoatCo, a Budweiser commercial, Brothers From Another Planet podcast, or The Colbert Report, where Stephen Colbert called him “the unsung hero of this sketch.” In his spare time, Jamie enjoys toy photography and other geeky pursuits.
