Musical Improv Level One with Stoddard "Stoddy" Blackall and Cheryl Horne

Stoddard Blackall is a musician and composer with a degree in songwriting from Berklee College of Music, and composing accolades from the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theater Workshop. He is co-owner of Sunny Songsters Children’s Entertainers, and teaches songwriting and improv to senior citizens with Vintage Improv. In addition to being an all-night entertainer for Brandy's Piano Bar and The Duplex, Stoddard has served as pianist for various musical improv groups at the People’s Improv Theater, Magnet Theater, and UCB.
Stoddard was so deeply inspired by Frank Spitznagel, positively impacting his musical improv pianist career through the years.

Stoddard’s original cabaret, Slanted, premiered at Don’t Tell Mama in 2022, and was revived at the Triad Theater in 2023. Stoddard is also a founding member, pianist, singer and saxophonist for the rock and roll band, The Caterers, sharing the stage with Coincidance star James Manzello, The Voice’s Gene Taylor, and drummer Alex Feldman. The debut album for Stoddard’s original musical, Hiccups, on Relationship OCD, was released on July 20, 2024. Cheryl Horne is a singer and actress from Long Island, NY. She studied Musical Theater in High School and college and graduated from SUNY Old Westbury, with a degree in Multicultural English Literature. She is currently an English teacher and mentor for grades 6-12.

Cheryl is also very involved in her community. She is the Drama Ministry Director at Bread of Life World Outreach Center; and she is also co-founder of Happy Harmonies, a charity organization that raises money for homeless communities, hurricane relief victims and other disenfranchised groups, with her best friend Vanita Kumar. She loves improv, singing, reading, book club, spending time with family, and dancing (even though she isn’t exactly a “dancer”).

Cheryl had the pleasure of studying “regular” improv under Rick Andrews, Megan Gray and Louis Kornfeld, and musical improv under Nikita Burdein, Miles Lindahl, Micheal Lutton, Annie Moor, Dan Reitz, and Frank Spitznagel. She loves being a part of the Magnet Theater community and is grateful for the talented people she is privileged to perform with.
