One Day Character Lab

One Day Character Lab with Christine Magee

Class Description

This is a one-day workshop that focuses on simple character-building exercises that help students find characters quickly. They will learn how to create characters that have consistent (and fun) behaviors. It is also an excellent chance to get in some reps at the start of the new year. We will end the class by doing a short set (10-15 minutes), using the skills that we learned in the character-building exercises. Prerequisite: Magnet Improv Level One or equivalent.

Instructor: Christine Magee

Chris is a performer originally from Jacksonville, Florida. She graduated the University of Florida (Go Gators!) with a B.A. in History, an A.S. in Film and Theater Technology from Valencia Community College (Go Pumas!) and an M.S. in Secondary Education from Long Island University (Go Finley the Shark!) - in that order. Chris started improvising at SAK Comedy Lab in Orlando, Florida and fell head over heals with improv and the improv community. She loves performing at the Magnet in NYC more than anything else. When she's not at the Magnet, though, she's either teaching high school history or she's out roller skating. She's not allowed to do both at the same time, unfortunately, because of, like, you know, insurance and safety and blah blah blah. Chris currently performs with at Megawatt team every Wednesday. She is also one half of the 2-prov group, "McEnRo" with Ro Rovito.
