The Musical Circuit Returns!
We're very excited to announce the next round of the Circuit for Summer and Fall 2026 – and this time, it’s Musical!
What is the Musical Circuit?
The Musical Circuit is a way for Magnet students to get more experience by performing with a team, formed by randomized lottery, for a limited run of shows on the Mainstage. These teams are assigned a coach, rehearse weekly, and are given a schedule of 6 shows at the Magnet, performing Thursday nights at 10:30pm from August 20th to October 22nd.
Each Musical Circuit show will consist of 25-30 minute sets for each team, with two teams performing per night.
What are the prerequisites for PERFORMERS on a Circuit Team?
- To be eligible for the Musical Circuit as a performer, you must have completed Musical Improv Level 3 at the Magnet Theater.
- Current Musical Megawatt performers are not eligible to perform on a Musical Circuit team.
What are the prerequisites for COACHES on a Circuit Team?
- To be eligible to coach a Musical Circuit team, you must have completed the Coaching Class at the Magnet.
- Coaching fees will be set at $30/hr for all coaches for this Summer/Fall 2026 round of Musical Circuit to help keep the program accessible to performers.
Does it cost anything to be on the Circuit?
Musical Circuit teams cover the costs of their rehearsals as a team for the duration of the Musical Circuit. These costs include room rentals, accompanist fees, and coaching fees, which are fixed at $30 per hour to keep costs accessible, and are to be shared equally by all members of the team irrespective of absences. Please note the accompanist fees may vary.
The Musical Circuit team is responsible for booking rehearsal space as well as the rehearsal accompanist. Accompanists for Musical Circuit shows will be provided by the Magnet.
When are Musical Circuit shows?
Musical Circuit shows will be Thursday nights at 10:30pm after Musical Megawatt throughout the months of August, September, and October. All shows will be at the Magnet Theater at 254 West 29th Street. Our goal is for each team to perform in as many shows as suits the 6-week Musical Circuit season.
However, there will be recurring bye-weeks, where no Musical Circuit teams perform, because of the Musical Mixer and Extra Credit shows.

How many spots are there this time around?
For the Summer-Fall 2026 round of the Musical Circuit, the final roster will depend on total coach and performer submissions.

When will announcements be made?
Performers will be notified via email by August 12th. The first show will be August 20th to provide time to practice with your team before the show schedule kicks off.
