The Return of The Circuit!
We're very excited to announce the next round of the Circuit for Spring 2026!
What is the Circuit?
The Circuit is a way for Magnet students to get more experience by performing with a team for a limited run of shows on the Main Stage. Teams of Magnet students are put together by a randomized lottery. These teams are assigned a coach, rehearse weekly, and are given a schedule of shows across an 8-week run at the Magnet and will perform Wednesday nights, from March 11th to April 29th.
Each Circuit show will consist of 18-20 min Harolds for each team, three per night. You're welcome to be flexible within that general structure (choose an opening or no opening, focus on different parts of the form, styles of improv, etc.).
What are the prerequisites for being on a Circuit Team?
To be eligible for the Circuit lottery, you must have completed Improv Level 3 at the Magnet. Current Megawatt performers are not eligible to improvise on a Circuit team. To be eligible to coach a Circuit team, you must have completed Coaching Class at the Magnet.
Does it cost anything to be on the Circuit?
Circuit teams cover the costs of their rehearsals. These costs include room rentals and coach fees which are fixed at $30 per hour to keep costs accessible. The Circuit team is responsible for booking rehearsal space.
When will Circuit shows be?
The Circuit shows will be Wednesday nights at 10pm after Megawatt throughout the months of March and April. Specifically, March 11, 18, and 25, April 1, 8, 15, 22, 29. All shows will be at the Magnet Theater at 254 West 29th Street. Our goal is for each team to perform every other week and have a total of four shows. However, the final schedule and number of shows performed will depend on total coach and improvisor submissions.
How many spots are there this time around?
For the Spring 2026 round of The Circuit, there is a maximum of 48 spots total, allowing for six teams of eight improvisors.
How do I apply to coach?
Just fill out THIS FORM! The application window will be open from February 12th – 20th.
How do I apply for a team?
The application window will be open from February 23rd – March 3rd.
What about a musical improv version of the Circuit?
Musical Circuit requires extra resources and we are keeping things very lean for the relaunch. But please do not despair because this is very much on our radar! Help us make this a success and we will look to include Musical, fingers crossed, in the next round.
When will announcements be made?
Team announcements will go out by or before March 9th.
