Class Description


Got opinions? Mad about something? Have a burning point of view to express? Get it all out through writing satire! In this six week workshop, you'll learn brainstorming techniques, how to form a comedic premise, and how to sculpt your point of view as a writer.

Instructor: Caitlin Kunkel

Caitlin Kunkel is a comedy writer, director, and producer whose plays and sketch comedy revues have been performed across the country. Her comedy and satire writing has been featured on The New Yorker, The Second City Network, The Huffington Post, McSweeney's, Paste, Reductress, and other places across the vast internetz. She is currently the head writer for Live Wire Radio on PRI. She is one of the co-founders of The Belladonna, a comedy and satire site by women, for everyone. Her first book, "New Erotica for Feminists: Satirical Fantasies of Love, Lust, and Equal Pay" will be released in the US and the UK in November 2018.

Caitlin also teaches people stuff! She has an MFA in Writing from the Screen and Stage from Northwestern University, where she taught screenwriting. She just finished a three-year term as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Pacific Northwest College of Art where she taught several courses, including one called Modern Comedy and Satire. She is the Program Designer for Second City's online satire program.
