Use Your Voice

Use Your Voice with Melissa Ulloa

Class Description

Do you ever feel inhibited by your own voice? Do you want to unlock your own vocal potential? This specialized vocal workshop is designed for those looking to develop awareness, confidence and applicable skills to free one's performative voice. In this session we'll work on practical vocal warm up exercises to enhance diction, breath support and projection. We'll cover a comprehensive introduction into the different components of the vocal apparatus. We'll also explore how to utilize one's own voice as a tool into improvised character work.

Instructor: Melissa Ulloa

Melissa Ulloa first started doing improv in Palm Beach Community College in 2007 and loved it but then kind of stopped doing it when she went to a fancy schmancy drama school, The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, where she got her BA in Acting [Collaborative & Devised Theatre]. (That's right I put the 'r' before the 'e'. Deal with it!) While she loved and learned so much from her super serious actor training she just couldn't stop her love affair with improvised comedy. She has since studied at iO, UCB & Magnet. She's currently on an all Latinx indie team called CHUCHO and on the Magnet house team Big Whoop! She also coaches improv and has created/conducted a vocal workshop for improvisers called Use Your Voice! AMA. Melissa loves her life a lot and this is about as much as Melissa can bear to write about herself without feeling sick. She does not like writing bios but needed to confront this weird aversion. Thanks for reading! Melissa is gonna go throw up now.
