Class Description


This workshop will heighten your physical presence on stage, expand your character range, and sensitize your group-mind for big, beautiful physical choices. Drawing on elements of physical theatre, dance, clown, and acrobatics this approach will arm you with techniques to develop your comedy beyond words and wit. You're not just a brain in a jar, so use that beautiful bod of yours, darn tootin!

Instructor: Ben Gorodetsky

Ben Gorodetsky is a Canadian improviser, theatre maker, writer, producer, and educator. Ben is co-creator of the critically-acclaimed, political comedy duo Folk Lordz (VICE). Some of the places Ben has taught and performed improvisation include Vienna, Ljubljana, Reunion Island, Atlanta, Detroit, Austin, Philadelphia, LA, NYC, Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver. He is the former Associate Artistic Director of Edmonton's Rapid Fire Theatre. His multimedia, physical theatre performances have been presented at Movement Research at Judson Church, The Tank NYC, Expanse Festival, The Brian Webb Dance Company, The Gas Station Arts Centre, and SpringWorks. Ben is the winner of the 2016 Emerging Artist Award at the Mayor's Celebration for the Arts (Edmonton, AB) and a nominee for a Canadian Comedy Award in Improv. Ben holds a BFA in Acting from the University of Alberta and an MFA in Performance and Interactive Media Arts from CUNY-Brooklyn College. www.bengorodetsky.com
